Bud Caldwell is now living with the Amos family and has had some problems with the son that get him locked up due to the fact the mom doesn’t believe Bud. Bud finds out that the son has used the same tactic he used on him, on other orphan kids also. Bud is taken to the shed where on the way the family says negative things to him to make him feel bad.  Bud eventually overcome his obstacles in the shed after being there a while and gets out and sets out on his journey to meet find his real father.  Bud had intentions to walk from Flint, Michigan to Grand Rapids where he thought his real father; Herman E. Calloway, the bass player for the Dusky Devastators of the Depression lived. On his way, he finds a Hooverville, a city made up of the homeless and jobless, where people treat him well. He also meets a kind limousine driver, who warns him about the dangers of a black person traveling alone. He met this man named Lefty Lewis who knows his father well. Lefty Lewis agrees to take Bud to his real father.
My personal reaction was admiration, because Bud endured all that hardship so he could find his real father. I believe if Lefty Lewis hadn’t found Bud then he might have not been that much closer to finding his real father. I think the author’s intent was to inspire reader to follow your dreams. Bud aspired to meet his real father no matter what obstacles was put in his way. I think organizational patterns in the story were cause and effect, and spatial order. The cause was that Bud was locked in the shed; the effects were that he escaped, ran away and starts walking. The cause was that Bud was walking alone early in the morning; the effects were that Lefty Lewis found him and helped him get that much closer to finding hid father. The spatial order was he was walking from Flint Michigan to Grand Rapids.

Gerald is three years old and his mother, Monique, is screaming at him to sit down in the shopping cart. Gerald doesn't want to sit because he has had an accident in his pants and it's very uncomfortable, but he sees that his mother is serious and does as she demands. Gerald doesn't know many things three-year-old boys know because he's never been allowed that knowledge. For example, he doesn't even know that the name of his hometown is Cincinnati. But he has a great deal of knowledge vital to his survival - things like he should never try to get his mother's attention if she is in bed, regardless of whether she's alone or has a man in bed with her. Gerald has also learned to hide behind the couch anytime Leroy has been to visit because he knows that Monique might go on a rampage.
Gerald's weakness for wanted to play with fire he accidentally set the apartment on fire and his is taken to the hospital after a neighbor discovers him behind the couch. Child services arrest the mom and puts him with his aunt. when Gerald gets older he loses his sweet aunt from death, his mom gets custody of him, he gets a mean step-dad, and a sister. As time passes Gerald finds out secrets about his step-dad and his sister Angel and Gerald decides to fight back to protect his sister. He then experiences a obstacle of challenges that lead up to the final showdown with his step-dad Jordan sparks.
Jordan C. from "FLVS Times" rates it  "Amazing" , "A non-stop reader", "Once you pick it up, you cant put it down". "I give it 5 stars out of 5,""A all time thriller." "truly a great story line." "A trill ride," "shocking," "a roller coaster of a story." I believe intent was to entertain with a story of a boy who experiences all these challenges and hardship that lead up to him standing up to a bully. Some organizational patterns i observed was; compare & contrast, cause and effect, chronological order, and spatial order.

The story I have chosen was the story Bud, Not Buddy. The story is about a boy who embarks on a journey to find his real father after his mother dies and he is put in an orphanage. When he was younger before his mom died she gave him a suitcase, plus she gave him a flyer revealing to him that the lead jazz player on the flyer was his father. While he is resting in the orphanage he continuous thinks about his mother and his father who he wants to meet desperately and decides to runaway. However, before he could plan to leave a family spots him and decide to adopt him foiling his plans to escape. While he is living with them his step- brother picks on him starting a fight with him and Bud fights back landing in trouble. He is then locked in the basement to stay till morning, but bud is determined to escape, so he hatches a escape plan to leave and get back at the family for locking him up to begin with. He escapes, gets his revenge at the brother and the family, and sets off to find his father. Along the way on his journey to find his father, he is faced with obstacles that he must overcome in order to eventually meet his real father.

My personal reaction was admiration, because he had the picture of his father and self-determination in order to take on that challenge-filled journey. If I had to create notes in order to help me remember the most important parts of the story I would use outlines, because it allows you to make heading and subheadings and then create points for that heading sort of like bullets. Another reason why I would use outlines because they are the most common, yet effective note take style you can use when taking notes for a topic.

My desires in life is to be in law enforcement, either in human law enforcement or animal law enforcement. My goals are to graduate high school in the top range of my class and to go to the University of Florida with a degree in Criminology & Law. I am currently a member of Dillard High’s Robotic club team 108 Sigma Cats. I have a hobby of writing poems even though people think it’s kind of weird with my voice being deep as it is. I love animals and have always found Animal Cops to be true heroes. Everyone on my mom’s side had a job as a teacher or education or in law enforcement or the armed forces. On my dad’s side my family is very large to the point where I am still meeting family members. I always had this desire to visit the Philippine Islands, because I feel like it would be cool to visit somewhere exotic and has some Spanish influence blended with some Asian culture.  On top of learning Spanish I want to learn to speak Tagalog (the most commonly used language of the Philippines), because if I go to the Philippines I want to be able to communicate and not need a translator and plus it is an interesting language that has a combination of Asian language and Spanish influence. But over all I would love to get the full extinct of both sides of my family and trace my family to their roots.

The last book I read was Forged by Fire and it was a great book. Forged by Fire was a book about a boy (Gerald) who had a hard life living with a mom who wasn’t the best parent, but tried to do her best when she could. There is no extinct of his father, but his mom had to find some kind of work to take care of him and left him home alone when she left. He ends up getting a sister and a step-dad who was abusive and used to touch his daughter in non-appropriate ways and Gerald had to be the one to protect her. However, when Gerald was about eight he didn’t like the idea of her living with him, being his sister, or having a step-dad. I like the book Forged by Fire, because it shows a journey that a boy had to endure in order to live in the life he had. I also like the book because it’s a situation that is very realistic and people in the world can relate to it. It shows that some good can come from something that seemed bad at first. It also displays the fact that even though you could only look out for yourself family can become your top list priority.
